It is no mere conqueror. It is a sentient void—a memory eater. It does not just destroy nations; it unweaves the very fabric of their existence, consuming their histories, their names, and their light. To be touched by the Shadow is to have never existed at all.

The Kushites
Elite Sentinels and elemental warriors bound by blood and an ancient oath. Guardians of the Keeper's Light and defenders of sacred memory. The Kushites stand to challenge the evil of the Devouring Shadow.
The Nok
Masters of the deep past, guarding mysteries that could shatter the earth. Experts in metal working and terracotta production no other civilization could rival. Their genius with fire and iron was a crowning achievement.
The Yámmites
Exiled but unbroken, driven by the iron philosophy of Khétúm—perseverance. The Yámmites are the most technologically advanced civilization in the Nguvu na Utulivu Universe.
The Ishango
Architects of governance who weigh the survival of nations on the scales of leverage, risk, and the Calculus of Trust. Mastery of metallurgy, their unbroken tradition of Kálondé martial discipline, and their fierce sense of identity made them the natural anchor to form an alliance against tyranny and oppression.
The Aksumites
A mighty empire in the eastern highlands, commanding trade routes and wielding deep spiritual authority. They were a beacon of light in a world of shadows, a testament to the power of unified people. But a great light casts an even greater shadow, and from the edges of their world, darkness began to stir.
The Bachwezi
A constitutional democracy that rose from the ashes of a fallen dynasty. The Bachwezi became technologically advanced through theft of Yámmite science and engineering, but used the stolen technology to improve food production and water management.
The Kásu-Furá
A faction defined by industrial aggression that chose survival through the ruthless pursuit of stolen technology. The Kásu-Furá used subterfuge and treachery to achieve their misguided goals, creating more chaos in a region heading into instability.
The Puntites
Keepers of the legendary Land of the Gods, known for their powerful sacred artifacts and wealth. The Puntities controlled a vast trading network and became the envy of empires in the region. Their merchant skills were unmatched throughout the East.
The M'Benga
Guardians deeply attuned to the natural world and vital allies in the Ishango Confederation. Their navy is the most powerful in the region, capitalizing on nature-based designs for their ships.
The Ushúrantu
Fierce traditionalists whose martial prowess and stealth form the backbone of the confederated defense. Hailing from the forest city of Úgáná, the Ushúrantu are revered as archers and feared as trackers. They had perfected the art of guerrilla resistance.
The Kérmiányo
The desert riders of Téyí. Their cavalry could strike with breathtaking speed and vanish before an enemy empire even realized what had happened. The Kérmiányo offered mobility, disruption, and the promise that the evil empire they were battling would never again sleep comfortably along its northern borders.
The Macrobians
Legendary warriors and isolationists known for their immense longevity and staggering wealth. Fiercely independent, they guard ancient truths and refuse to bow to any encroaching empire.
